The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools will induct four new members into its Wall of Fame this month. The honorees will join 88 other Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) alumni who have been inducted since the Wall of Fame was created in 1985.
Virtual volunteering will look and feel different than in-person volunteer work, but with the same goal of helping students academically, while developing mentorship relationships with them.
To celebrate the first day of school and to show continued support of teachers, the foundation fully funded all distance learning projects posted on DonorsChoose by OKCPS teachers. The Foundation invested more than $81,000 in 145 projects.
Oklahoma City Public Schools is in the process of deploying technology devices for every student in the district. Providing technology access for all students in a school district (1:1 technology) has been a favored scenario throughout the world of K-12 education for many years. This is a big win for our students and can definitely be seen as not letting a crisis go to waste.
Virtual event honors professionals, volunteers for outstanding service to the district. Congrtulations to Leslie Davis, all Teacher of the Year finalists and our other Stars of Education.
Responding to immediate needs for Oklahoma City Public Schools is part of the mission of The Foundation for OKCPS.
As the start of school is pushed back and limited to virtual learning, our community can rest assured that school leaders will continue to do all they can to serve kids.
