Glenna and Dick Tanenbaum Commit $750,000 to The Foundation

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 16, 2016) – Glenna and Dick Tanenbaum delivered a $150,000 check to The Foundation of Oklahoma City Public Schools this week. The donation marks the start of a five-year, $750,000 commitment.

“Excellent public schools form the basis of a great community,” said Dick Tanenbaum, CEO of the Gardner Tanenbaum Group. “Glenna and I decided to invest in The Foundation so we could directly support our schools, teachers and students. The impact is immediate, and we know the donation is being put to an important and much-needed use.”

“As a businessman and as someone who has lived in Oklahoma City for more than 20 years, I believe our schools are worth the investment,” he added. “We want our city to succeed, and we can’t do that without exceptional education.”

Glenna, who has served on The Foundation board for three years, agreed.

“We made this personal commitment to The Foundation because we believe in its mission,” she said. “We hope others in our community will follow suit with a gift that makes sense, whether they become a Partner in Action, fund a project on DonorsChoose.org or support any of our other Foundation programs and initiatives.

With this donation, the Tanenbaums become a Foundation Visionary Partner.

“The Tanenbaums’ generous gift should serve as an inspiration to all of us to examine what we can do to support our local schools,” said Mary Mélon, president and CEO of The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools. “We’re extremely thankful for the Tanenbaums’ leadership in our community and support of The Foundation’s work.”
