The Foundation for OKCPS Receives National Recognition
OKLAHOMA CITY (July 20, 2016) – Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities, has awarded The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools a four-star rating (a perfect score) for operating in a financially efficient and trustworthy manner. This rating signifies the organization has exceeded industry standards and outperformed most charities in the nonprofit sector. Only one-fourth of rated charities have achieved this distinction.
“The Foundation is proud to receive this prestigious seal of approval from Charity Navigator,” said Mary Mélon, president and CEO of The Foundation. “Our organization works tirelessly to ensure every dollar donated is effectively used to help improve education and build strong community support for lasting change in Oklahoma City Public Schools.”
Charity Navigator’s rating system examines two broad areas of a nonprofit’s performance; financial health and accountability and transparency. The ratings show donors how efficiently an organization operates, how well it has sustained programs and services over time and its ethical best practices.
“Awareness of Oklahoma City Public Schools’ financial needs is at an all-time high and many people are looking for ways to help,” said Cliff Hudson, CEO of SONIC and board chairman of The Foundation. “Donors should feel good about The Foundation’s perfect score, knowing their dollars are being used wisely in our local community and schools.”
