Thelma Parks Students Receive Warm Holiday Presents
OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 22, 2016) – Nearly 300 students from Thelma R. Parks Elementary will have a warm winter holiday thanks to The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools’ community partners.
On Dec. 21, every child at the school received a fleece blanket provided by a generous sponsor. Academy Sports + Outdoors’ combined resources from Oklahoma City metro area stores to make the gift possible.
Students from pre-K to third grade also took home a donated learning-based toy such as puzzles or modeling compound. Students in fourth through sixth grade also received books provided by Feed the Children.
Embassy Suites made the presents especially cheerful by ensuring they were beautifully wrapped for delivery.
“It takes people working together to make a difference for children in Oklahoma City Public Schools,” said Alta Price, The Foundation’s manager of outreach and programs. “We are so excited to share how the community has pulled together to spread joy this holiday season.”
Thelma Parks Elementary Principal ReJeana Payne also thanked the groups that helped make the holidays more special.
“It was amazing to witness the number of organizations and individuals willing to make this possible,” she said. “The smiles and appreciation shown by the students and families were priceless.”
