High School to Teacher Pipeline Program Application

Participants applications are reviewed three times a year. Participants can apply at any time during the year depending on what semester the participant wants to start. The application deadlines are listed below:

It depends on you and your academic history. You will work with an academic advisor at one of our community college partners or at UCO to determine the best route for successful completion of the program. Everyone is different, but on average it takes about 4-6 years if you are entering the program with little to no college credits.

Yes. You can pick from any of our community college partners (OCCC, OSU-OKC and Rose State) until you finish your general studies degree or pre-education degree. Once you are ready to transfer to UCO is the next institution you will attend and where you will take upper division courses until you complete your teaching certification.

You will be considered a part-time student. You can take two classes (6 hours) for the Fall and Spring semester and take one class (3 hours) for the summer semester. Taking additional classes if possible, through an approval process.

Yes. Official transcripts for each institution that you have attended are required. Transcripts are used to evaluate academic history. If you are not able to provide us with an official transcript, please let us know as soon as possible. Official transcripts are required when you are admitted to one of our higher education partners. If you have never earned college credit, you will need to submit a final HS transcript with your application.

Once a complete application is received by the deadline, all applicants will need to complete an interview. The interview is the last step of the application process. Once all interviews are completed, the applications will be reviewed by the OKCPS Foundation. Participant notifications are done within 2-3 weeks after the application deadline.

All accepted participants are notified by phone by our Pipeline Programs Manager. Once all participants have been contacted via phone an email goes out to participants as well to let them know their next steps.

Yes. You do have to submit a FAFSA every year, an academic year covers the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters of that academic year.

Yes. If you are a DREAMER or DACA recipient, you can still apply to the Pipeline. DREAMERS are not eligible to receive federal funds like FAFSA.

As a pipeline participant you will have wrap-around services. You will have 1:1 support with the OKCPS Foundation, your higher ed. Partner at the institution you are attending, and OKCPS staff.

The benefits of being part of the Teacher Pipeline Program is that you will be making a difference within the OKCPS district. You also get a debt-free education, you are able to maintain your full-time job while you go to school part-time, and you will have 1:1 support throughout your educational journey.

You get to select the style of classes that fits your learning style. Our higher ed. partners have a variety of classes that you can pick from. Their schedules include in-person classes, online classes, weekend classes and hybrid classes.

When you get to UCO and one of your required classes is only offered in person during the day, there is a process that you need complete to get the approval from your principal and OKCPS in order to be able to use professional development leave.
